Services

OB Geotechnics is specialist in analysing and providing

innovation solutions and expert advice on a diverse range of  geotechnical complications

for residential/commercial buildings and multi engineering infrastructure projects.

Acid Sulfate Soil (ASS) Assessment

Acid sulfate soils (ASS) are soils and sediments containing iron sulfides. When ASS exposed to air by excavation, disturbance or dewatering, the sulfide in these soils react with oxygen producing sulpuric acid which can causing major environmental harm. OB Geotechnics will address and manage your particular Acid Sulfate Soil as per council requirement. Our analysis is based on the criteria described in the Acid Sulfate Soil Manual (NSW ASSMAC 1998).

Supervision During Construction Phase

We work closely with our clients and their project management team throughout all stages of the construction. OB Geotechnics provides construction QA/QC services, including footing inspection and bearing capacity confirmation, level 1 supervision and testing, rock face inspection and stabilisation measures.

Deep excavation Retention system Analysis and Recommendations

For each particular job we interpret architectural, structural and survey drawings to create the geotechnical model. The model divides the subsurface profile into a number of soil and bedrock units. We select geotechnical parameters for each geological unit based on the borehole information, the results of field and laboratory strength testing, our knowledge and well established empirical correlations. The geotechnical model is then used in our numerical analysis (WALLAP, Plaxis 2D and 3D, Seep/w, Slope/w) for the optimisation of retention solutions, settlement analyses, seepage analysis, and dewatering solutions. - Prediction of wall movements and adjacent structure movements using conventional methods (WALLAP) or finite element (PLAXIS). - Optimisation of retention solutions. - Settlement analyses (local settlements and global settlements). - Design optimisation by Numerical Modelling.

Slope Stability Investigation

When your proposed development is located on steep slopes and other potential landslide areas, Slope Stability Assessment is essential. A Landslide, or less often known as Landslip, is defined as the movement of a mass of rock, earth or debris down a slope. Gravity is the major driving force for a landslide to occur. However there are other factors affecting slope stability that produce specific conditions that make a slope prone to failure. such as; heavy rainfall, earthquake, cut & fill earthworks and etc. Almost every landslide has multiple causes. Landslide occurs when forces acting down-slope (shear stress) exceed the strength of the materials (shear strength) that compose the slope. Causes of instability include factors that increase the shear stress and factors that contribute to low or reduced shear strength. Landslides can be initiated in slopes by rainfall, snowmelt, changes in ground water level, stream erosion, earthquakes, volcanic activity, disturbance by human activities (cut & fill earthworks), or any combination of these factors. OB Geotechnics will develop the appropriate geotechnical constitutive model for your site and carry out slope stability analysis to insure that your proposed development will not be affected by landslide.
